Introduction
Space missions have social, public and scientific purposes. However, it is sometimes too complex for the general public to understand them. Therefore, it is hard for the public to feel engaged to space missions since they are not exposed to their daily lives, even though the missions are critical and valuable for humanity.
The game “AIM Space Challenge” was developed to create awareness and engagement of the proposed space mission Asteroid Impact Mission (AIM). This is a mobile tycoon game which gives an informative and playful experience of AIM and its research and development.

Objective
-To help the target group understand why the mission is important
-To provide a playful but informative experience about the game.
-To help the target group engage themselves to space missions.
-To help people understand the challenges of a space mission, AIM.
Medium Research
Exhibition - immersive interaction / playful medium

The advantage of an exhibition as a medium is first-hand experience. It gives you more immersive, and engaging experience than looking at the screen since you walk around in the (surrounding/enclosing) space yourself. To create more playful/ engaging experience, we developed a prototype of interactive-exhibition with game on mobile.
Game - playful / easier access / interactive

”Tycoon” : Game type A ‘tycoon’ is one of the game genres, which is the best viable option for our client ESA because it triggers the long-term engagement we seek, it can incorporate a story and/or quests and the player is being rewarded for coming back. Thus, our game goes, as the player establishes a space centre to perform a series of missions in order to lead the space centre to perform the AIM mission.
