INTERACTIVE ART INSTALLATION

PROJECT
In this project, we were asked to install one of DRIFT’s art installation called “Meadow”; a kinetic sculpture that features mechanical flowers which open and close in a poetic choreography. Through sensors, Meadow reacts to visitors, with the flowers blooming in response to their presence, as if they were the sun to the flowers. The site is LG Art Center in Seoul, designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the building’s design is characterized by clean lines, the use of raw concrete, and a careful interplay of light and shadow, which creates a serene atmosphere.

- Designing the composition of the installation within the given spacewW
- Selecting color composition of each flower elements
- Physical modeling, 3D digital visualisation
CHALLENGE
Main focus of the composition of the artwork was to make an easthetically pleasing structure that harmonizes well with the givcen space. I considered main views, one from the entrance of the space and one from the top of the stairs. The immense ceiling height and hidden obstacles in the sub-ceiling was challenging to overcome. However we managed creating a great result that was well received.
